"For me, a Jacuzzi is not a machine. It’s a person—a member of my family."
The name Jason® is a contraction of the words "Jacuzzi" and "son" to form "Jason." The Jason brand is not to be confused with the brand of another manufacturer by the name Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi Company and name were sold by the descendants of the original Jacuzzi Company in 1979.
Within the uncompromising craftsmanship of each Jason product resides an engineering tradition that started with my family’s role in, of all things, the early aviation industry.
In 1907, my father, Valeriano Jacuzzi, and a younger brother started the eventual immigration of his parents, brothers and sisters to the United States from Italy, where they settled in Northern California. My uncle Rachele, a brilliant self-taught engineer, designed and built a new type of highly efficient airplane propeller for WWI which led to the establishment of the Jacuzzi Bros. Company.
The family company became a leader in aviation when they also built the first enclosed monoplane in the United States. Unfortunately, the aircraft was involved in a tragic accident resulting in the death of my uncle, Giocondo. The company abandoned the manufacture of airplanes to focus on the development of other products. They again became industry leaders through the design and manufacture of their patented deep-well injector pumps.
In the 1940s my cousin, Kenneth Jacuzzi, was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis. His father, my uncle Candido, observed the benefit from the hydrotherapy treatments his son received at the hospital. Candido and a team of company engineers built a patented unit that could operate in home bathtubs, launching the hydrotherapy industry.
I began working in the family business while still in college, earning degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration. Eventually, I rose to the position of president of Jacuzzi-Brazil. In 1979, the Jacuzzi family sold the business (and the name) to a large corporate conglomerate. I remained as president of Jacuzzi Brothers until 1982, when I decided to return to the values and philosophy developed in the original family business and founded Jason® Hydrotherapy.
Today, Jason Hydrotherapy produces a complete line of Luxury-Class™ Soaking, MicroSilk®, AirMasseur®, Whirlpool and Combination baths, which incorporate Jason proprietary Quiet Design™ Engineering and Sani-Design™ Technology.
